Nunnington Hall
Nunnington Hall is the National Trusts finest haunted house. Legend says, There’s several ghosts that haunted here, including several reports of child spirits, and the ghost of Lady Nunnington in this 17th century country house.
There’s been a residence on this plot since the early 13th century. The main appearance of Nunnington Hall you see today, is the remainder of the country house that was renovated and built upon during the 17th and 18th centuries.
“Nunnington Hall is believed to be haunted by the ghost of Lady Nunnington, whose dress is heard dragging up and down the staircase. When the sound is investigated it tends to stop. Doors are known to open and slam shut in the dead of night, with no explanation, and the sounds of weeping have been heard throughout the night.
In the panelled room a dark shapeless mass has been seen, entering the room through a wall, slowly moving over the bed and out of the room through the window. The sound of a terrified scream has also been heard coming form this room. The door has also been known to open and slam shut.”

The Stone Hall – At the heart of the house the Stone Hall was a great hall in the 16th-century, a kitchen in the 17th century and by 1921 an entrance hall in which parties were held and table tennis was played.
The Dining Room & Lord Prestons Room – By the 20th-century the Dining Room became Colonel Fife’s smoking room and a ‘Georgian Green’ colour with mezzotints adorning the walls.
The Oak Hall – It was fitted out accordingly with impressive door-cases with open topped pediments, a screen of three arches and a stone floor laid in a sophisticated pattern of squares and hexagons.
